about

This song was written back in 2012 and recorded for the “Time & Place” album in 2017. I poured a lot of myself into this song, but I unfortunately had to leave it off the album because it really didn’t match the rest of the songs.

This song is a musical expression of frustration. It was written from the standpoint of someone who is trying to rebuild his life, but no one will help him. He’s even been rejected by the people that, by definition, shouldn’t turn anyone away. But because of mistakes he made in his past, and because of the way he looks, he’s just “not worth it.” All of the words of this song are statements that I’ve actually heard said by people just like him.

No one should ever feel this way. We ALL have things in our past that we’re ashamed of. We have ALL made mistakes that continue to follow us wherever we go, no matter how we try to get away from them. Every soul is worth loving, regardless of their past, regardless of how they look. No one deserves to be alone.

lyrics

I had no one
I had nothing worth living for
I was going nowhere
And I was lost within myself

But an angel of mercy in the form of a friend
Exposed me to a love that has no end
But was that enough for you
To want to take me in?

You hide behind
All the good things people think about you
You avoid the truth
You avoid showing how you really feel

I come to you in need of what you can do for me
But you won’t hear it because of what I used to be
Is anything enough for you
To want to take me in?
(Please take me in)

I never walked away
It was you who cast me aside
Is it because I don’t look like you
That makes you want to treat me this way?

Who’s gonna love me?
Who’s gonna give me what I need?
Who’s gonna love me?
Where will I find peace?

I just want to be part of what’s going on
I just want my life to mean something good
I just want to be wanted by someone else
I just want to be loved

I never walked away
It was you who cast me aside
Is it because I don’t look like you
That makes you want to treat me this way?

You ask me to trust you
You say you love me, but you won’t show me
I guess I’ll always be on the outside
You’re keeping me on the outside

Who’s gonna love me?
Who’s gonna give me what I need?
Who’s gonna love me?
Where will I find peace?

If you won’t believe in me
Then tell me where can I turn?
The last thing I need
Is to be alone
