I hate to admit it, but this song was written while I was supposed to be paying attention to something else. The “where” and “when” aren’t important to the story, but let’s just say that I was sitting in a classroom, and I should have been listening to the instructor talk. Unfortunately for him, he lost my interest very quickly.
The reason I was writing these lyrics rather than paying attention was because the instructor simply could not make up his mind what direction he wanted to take with the class. He knew the subject matter, but he just couldn’t make a decision.
That is what this song is about. I’m often faced with tough decisions, and life would be so much easier if someone else would just decide for me. But, when it comes right down to it, it’s really all up to me.
I placed this song at the end of the album on purpose, because the what this song is about holds true for you, too: how you take the messages that I have tried to convey through these lyrics is completely up to you. Take it for what you wish. I just hope that, somehow, you found these songs to be a blessing—musically, spiritually, or whatever.
lyrics
I've been waiting for oh so long
for you to decide.
You have to make a choice,
there's nothing in between.
I've been waiting patiently
for a sign from you.
Please show me where
you want to be.
I know you'd rather I decide,
but it's not up to me.
CHORUS: Only you know
how all of this will end.
You're the only one
who has control.
Every day you spend your time
walking aimlessly.
You have no direction and no clue.
Meanwhile, I want to help you,
if you'll just turn to me.
Just show me where
you want to be.
I know you'd rather I decide,
but it's not up to me.
CHORUS 2: Only you know
how all of this will end.
You're the only one
who has control.
Only you can tell me
where your destination is.
You're the only one
who knows.
