about

This song is based on true events. In 1991, when this song was written, I had a couple of friends that had decided that they didn’t want to do this “Christian” thing anymore. They had gone off to college and, for the first time in their lives, their faith was challenged. Rather than defend their faith, they chose to give up. I wrote this as a reminder to myself to “always be prepared to give an answer”, as it says in 1 Peter 3.

lyrics

CHORUS: I’m thinkin’ about the words to say
To all of my friends who’ve gone astray
I know that I need to find a way
To reach my friends today
So I’m thinkin’ about the words to say

I hope that I’m an influence
To some lost soul today
And I hope that they can
See the Lord in me
And I hope that I can make a difference
In the lives of my friends
And show them what a friend
The Lord can be

CHORUS

I know I’m not the best at showing
Christ in my life
But I hope that I can make
A change somehow
‘cause I know a lot of people who need
Jesus in their lives
And I need to show him
To them now

CHORUS 2x
