about

This track was one of the 4 songs recorded for Q's last project that was never released. Our intention was a 4-track EP, featuring this song as the title track. When Q decided to go our separate ways, these tracks were left in the vault...until 2002. This song was one of the two that were totally complete when I pulled them off the shelf. It features great performances by the last edition of Q, along with an extremely good lead vocal performance by Jim Ingerson. He and I were very passionate about this song and it's message. The music is quite reminiscent of songs like "Words of Truth" and "I Can't Wait", while it carries on the message of songs like "By Your Love" and "God's Children" (from Refuge). In fact, I felt so strongly about the subject matter that I re-recorded it for the "Refuge” project, but when I started planning the "Songs from the Vault" project, I changed my mind.

lyrics

Living life on the edge of a heartbreak,
some have nowhere to turn.
They wish someone would reach out to them.
We pass people on the street each day. They wonder
where is our source of joy?
And why won't we share some of it with them?
If we've got all the answers,
why can't we provide solutions?
We look at life with blinders on
we see no one but ourselves
Why can't we help the man who's fallen down?
Instead we point out his faults to him
How will that help him out?
Shouldn't he know us by the love we share?
If he's looking for a savior,
will he find that savior in us?

Chorus: We need love for one another
We need to show them that the Lord's alive and well
We're all sisters and brothers
We need love for one another

I've never thought of myself as an example
of what a Christian should be
I'll admit I'm not perfect
But I started thinking about those who don't know him
Do they know he lives in me?
Can I show them who he really is?
If they can't find him in me,
tell me, where will they turn?

Chorus

Bridge: Do we love (as Jesus loved)?
Do we show (that we care)?
Can we make a difference with the love we share?
We need love

Chorus
