about

One of the first songs we ever sang as a group, this one feels like it’s one of ours even though it’s a cover. When the group began, we wanted a ballad that would really showcase Jen’s voice. I don’t remember which member brought this song to the group, but it definitely did the job.

After releasing the song as one-off single in 1994, we began singing the song in concert coupled with “Lamb of God” as a medley. The overwhelming response of our audiences to the 2 songs together was enough for us to want to record it again.

lyrics

Thorns on his head, spear in his side
Yet it was a heartache that made him cry
He gave his life so that you would understand
Is there any way you could say no to this man?

If Christ himself were standing here
Face full of glory and eyes full of tears
If he held out his arms and his nail-printed hands
Is there any way you could say no to this man?

CHORUS: How could you look in his tear-stained eyes
knowing it’s you he’s thinking of?
Would you tell him you’re not ready to give him your life?
Would you say you don’t think you need his love?

Jesus is here with his arms open wide
You can see him with your heart if you stop looking with your eyes
He’s left it up to you. He’s done all he can
Is there any way you could say no to this man?

CHORUS

Thorns on his head, your life in his hands
Is there any way you could say no to this man?
Is there any way you could say no to this man?
