When you think of “home”, what comes to mind? Some people think of an actual place, like a house, or a piece of property, or the town where they grew up. Other people think of a state of mind, where they are loved and accepted by those around them.
Either way, there is always a relationship that is involved. This relationship could be with a family member, a friend, a significant other, or even a spiritual relationship. Regardless of the circumstances, that relationship is affected when someone leaves “home”.
This song is written from the standpoint of the person who is left behind. The beautiful thing about coming home is, no matter what, you are welcomed with open arms.
lyrics
You had enough and went away
now you find you've been chasing the wind
You followed things you thought were real
Now these things have come to an end
I wanted you to stay
but you wouldn't listen to me
You wanted to go your own way
But that way didn't set you free
It only bound you tighter than you were before
Now I wait for you to knock on my door
You know you always have a place here
I'm just waiting for you to come...
CHORUS: Home where you belong
With me, like you never were gone.
I don't care what you've done
What matters most is that you come
back home, safe and sound
Set free, no longer bound.
Your joy won't be found,
until you turn around.
Please won't you come back home.
My door is always open,
and you always have a place with me.
I've been waiting for you to come back,
because this is where you're meant to be.
When you walk through that door, we'll celebrate,
because you've come back to be with me.
You know you've always had a place here.
I'm glad you've made the choice to come...
CHORUS 2: Back home where you belong
You're with me, like you never were gone.
I don't care what you've done
What matters most is that you've come
back home, safe and sound
You're set free, no longer bound.
I'm glad you're back around
The lost now is found.
Please won't you come back home.
Bridge: There's no where else
no other place like this
this place where you belong
There's nothing else
you could ever need
now that you're here with me
